Genus of approximately 150 species of perennial, semi-evergreen or deciduous shrubs and climbers. They are found in a wide variety of habitats in Asia, Europe, North Africa and North America. The bracteata rose is a very vigorous semi-deciduous botanical rose with a climbing habit, up to 8-10 m tall. Leaves are light-pinnate, shiny and dark green in colour. The stem is covered in bright red thorns, which turn brown when ripe. It is characterized by very abundant and prolonged flowering from June to August. The flowers are white, faintly scented with numerous golden yellow stamens. The tomentose fruits are golden-bronze in color and have a decorative appearance. The seeds are small and white.

    Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to all types of soil and is practically immune to all diseases. Discreetly rustic, it resists up to -8°/-10°c. It should be planted in full sun although it adapts to partial shade, but with less abundant blooms. It can be used to create hedges or as a climber, both for pergolas or gazebos and to cover walls and fences.

    Sowing

    From autumn to early spring
