The fruits are characteristic woody legumes containing 2-4 large red seeds.

    Pedoclimatic needs

This species is native to Texas and Mexico where it lives in arid and semi-desert environments. They therefore love dry soils that are generally not very rich in organic substance. Watering must also be moderate, especially in the hot season. It prefers sunny exposures, but also tolerates partial shade. Not very rustic plant, it fears the cold and intense and prolonged frosts, withstanding only brief drops in temperature up to -2°/-4°C. This species is ideal for waterless Mediterranean gardens.

For the correct sowing of this plant it is necessary to first scarify the seed with hot water. If you need to know how to do it, you can find all the information on scarification in this tutorial of ours on Youtube .
