Genus of over 200 species of single-stemmed or tufted succulents from Central and South America. Puya mirabilis is an evergreen, bushy succulent with a rosette habitus. The elongated, curved leaves, up to 50-70 cm long, are light green or glaucous in color, and have small yellowish-white spines on the margins. In spring, small inflorescences 100/150 cm tall appear from the mature rosettes, bearing several creamy white flowers at the apex.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in sun in well-drained mineral soil. Partially rustic species, it tolerates cold and not too long frosts down to -5°/-7°C. Dry-resistant species, but during the summer it benefits from regular watering. This Puya can be grown on the ground in flowerbeds or rock gardens, or even in pots to decorate terraces and balconies.
