Genus of 25 species of evergreen, aromatic shrubs and subshrubs, present in rocky, exposed, sunny and dry habitats of the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean regions, north-eastern Africa, south-western Asia and India. Lavandola angustifolia is an evergreen, perennial subshrub, up to 60 cm tall that forms small, dense and compact bushes. The opposite, aromatic leaves are grey-green, linear, 1-3 cm long and a few millimetres wide. The purple flowers appear in late spring and are very fragrant. They are gathered in a showy and compact spike inflorescence.
