Genus comprising 1100 species of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, climbers, cultivated mainly for their flowers and sometimes for their interesting foliage. Acacias are widespread in the tropical and warm temperate regions of Central and South America, Kenya, southern Africa, Polynesia and Australia. The Acacia dealbata is an evergreen tree, 10-15 m tall but with a wide habit, with glaucous fern-like leaves, tormenting bipinnate up to 12 cm long, each with 40-80 linear leaflets. From winter to spring it produces inflorescences made up of spherical flower heads, very fragrant and golden yellow in colour.

It adapts to all types of soil, preferring loose and well-drained ones. It likes exposure to full sun and resists drought well. Moderately rustic plant, it tolerates short frosts well and resists minimum temperatures between -4°/-6°C. Almost all acacias suffer drastic pollarding and pruning.
