    Genus comprising 1100 species of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, climbers, cultivated mainly for their flowers and sometimes for their interesting foliage. Acacias are widespread in the tropical and warm temperate regions of Central and South America, Kenya, southern Africa, Polynesia and Australia. The Acacia melanoxylon is a rapidly growing evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright habit. Whole leathery leaves of 10-12 cm. Yellow flowers gathered in very fragrant flower heads. It flowers between March and April.

    Pedoclimatic needs

    Grow in full sun in sandy soil. It also adapts to calcareous soils. It resists drought very well and is suitable for gardens without water. Partially rustic, it resists short frosts in a Mediterranean climate with minimum temperatures of up to -8 to -10°C.

    Sowing

    Scarification with warm water in spring.
