Genus of about 150 species of deciduous or evergreen trees and shrubs of Europe, Africa and northern Asia and North and Central America. Acer davidii is a medium-small deciduous tree, up to 10-12 metres tall, characterised by a rounded crown. The bark is green with white streaks. The leaves, ovate and dark green, take on a warm colour in autumn which makes the plant particularly decorative. The flowers are small and yellowish-green; they appear gathered in drooping inflorescences. The fruit is a winged disamara.

Maples are suitable for any type of garden depending on the species and size. It adapts to all types of soil as long as they are well drained. It likes exposure to full sun or partial shade. Rustic species, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -10°/- 15°c.
