Acer palmatum cv “rubroviridis” is a small, slow-growing, deciduous shrub with a drooping habit that can reach a height of 2-3 m.
Its soft and drooping foliage tends to touch the ground. The characteristic of this cultivar is that in spring it has red leaves with green shades and streaks. This coloration tends to become uniform to a light green as the warm season progresses.
Pedoclimatic needs
Japanese maples are very demanding regarding the nature of the soil, preferring fresh and well-drained ones with an acid reaction. It likes an eastern or partially shaded exposure. A rustic plant, it resists minimum temperatures reaching -10°\ -15°c, but fears late frosts and strong winds. This cultivar is also suitable for growing in pots.
