Genus of about 150 species of deciduous or evergreen trees and shrubs of Europe, Africa and northern Asia and North and Central America. Acer rubrum is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of 15/18 m. It has an expanded and irregular crown with palmate leaves with serrated edges, dark green in color. In autumn the leaves take on the characteristic red-orange color from which the species takes its name. This cultivar has a more contained growth and more compact crown.
Pedoclimatic requirements
It prefers fresh and deep, fertile and well-drained soils. To have the characteristic red color in autumn, the plants must grow in acid or sub-acid substrates. It fears alkaline soils where iron chlorosis arises. It can be grown with exposure to full sun or partial shade. Very rustic plant, it resists minimum temperatures up to -15°/-20°C
