Actinidia sinensis cv. Tumors - kiwi (SET 4 POTS 7x7x8 cm - 3 females cv. Hayward and 1 male)

Beautiful climbing plant, of considerable size which can reach up to 10 m in height. The younger leaves are heart-shaped and change shape when mature, becoming more rounded. The trunk is covered with a grey-brown warty bark while the young branches have a herbaceous consistency. Actinidia chinensis is a dioecious species so to reproduce it needs a male and a female specimen. The flowers have 5-6 petals, with a diameter ranging from 3 to 5 cm and are creamy white in colour. In the flowering of the female plant the flowers are further apart than in the male one. The fruits are long edible oval berries, with robust skin covered in hair, the pulp is firm and bright green in color and the central part contains hundreds of small seeds.

Pedoclimatic needs

It is a demanding plant, it must be grown in fresh, neutral or acidic soils with a good content of organic substance, while it absolutely does not tolerate those of a calcareous nature. The plant requires a sunny exposure but well sheltered from the winds, furthermore it does not tolerate spring frosts and temperatures that are too low, adapting well to areas with high atmospheric humidity. It does not tolerate drought; during the hot season watering must be abundant and regular.
