Genus of 9 species of mainly deciduous trees of tropical, semiarid regions of Africa, the Camore Islands, Madagascar and northern and northeastern Australia. Adansonia digitata is a long-lived, deciduous tree with a thick, swollen, succulent trunk and short branches bearing rounded, palmate leaves, sometimes only lobed. The pendulous flowers 10-12 cm wide, with white petals, partially reflected and extended central spheres of stamens with purple anthers, borne on long stems together with the leaves or just before, in summer. Woody fruits, containing large black or brown seeds.
Pedoclimatic needs
Where temperatures drop below 16 degrees, grow in a hot greenhouse. It is grown in a sunny place, it can also withstand temperatures around +5°/+6°C, but for a short time, and only if in a completely dry place. During the winter months it shelters from the cold. Water from April to October, taking care to wait until the soil is perfectly dry between one irrigation and another. During the cold months avoid watering.Sowing
