    Genus composed of 5 species of caudiciform succulent plants originating from Africa, Arabia and the island of Socotra. Adenium obesum subs. Somalense is a magnificent deciduous succulent up to 1.5 m tall. The base of the stem appears swollen from which numerous thin, slightly branched branches branch out. The dark green leaves are oval and leathery. This subspecies has slightly smaller flowers than. Obesum; these appear in late spring from the apex of the stems and are up to 6/8 cm wide, generally light pink in colour.

    Pedoclimatic needs

    Grow in moderately fertile, very well-drained soil in the sun. Not rustic. In winter it resists up to +6°/+8° and must be kept dry. It can be grown in the ground only in Mediterranean gardens, where temperatures do not fall below +6°c. Being a species with limited development, it is ideal for growing in pots. In our climates it can be raised in containers, placed outdoors during spring and summer and sheltered during autumn and winter.
