Genus of over 200 species of rosette-forming monocarpic perennials and succulents from the desert and mountainous regions of North America. The Agave ghiesbreghtii has rosettes up to 50 cm in height formed by rigid and fleshy green leaves, with sharp terminal spines and toothed margins. When mature, the plant produces inflorescences 1-2 meters high on which there are yellow flowers. After flowering, which occurs around the 15th-20th year of age, the plant dies.
Pedoclimatic needs
Grow in slightly acidic, moderately fertile and well-drained soil, in full sun. Agave ghiesbreghtii is not very rustic and cannot tolerate temperatures below -2°/0°c. During the dry season it resists drought well, although it benefits from regular irrigation by waiting for the earth to dry between one irrigation and another.
