Genus of 35 species of deciduous trees and shrubs that grow in all regions of the Northern Hemisphere, generally in poor, moist soil. Alnus cordata (Neapolitan alder) is a medium-sized deciduous tree that can reach 15-20 meters with beautiful, not very expansive foliage. Rapidly growing species thanks to the nitrogen-fixing bacteria present in symbiosis on its roots. The leaves are simple, alternate, with an acute apex and a truncated base. The leaf margin is toothed.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to growing in stony soils and on rocks. It requires humidity, but can resist not too long periods of drought. Rustic species, it resists temperatures reaching -10/-15°C.Sowing
