Genus of 300 species of perennial evergreens with small to large rosettes of leaves. Some are shrub-like, a few arborescent. They can be found at various altitudes in the Cape Verde Islands, in tropical and southern Africa, in Madagascar and in the Arabian Peninsula. Aloe branddraaiensis is a succulent acaule with rosettes of lanceolate leaves, light green in colour, 20-30 cm long with white oblong spots. On the margins of the leaves there are small, very close together, non-pungent, light-coloured, white or yellowish teeth. In summer, mature plants produce 40-60 cm tall inflorescences with numerous red to yellow cylindrical flowers.
Pedoclimatic needs
It requires sandy and well-drained soil. It likes a dry, warm climate and should be grown in sun or partial shade. Non-rustic plant, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching +4°/+6°c. During the dry season it tolerates drought well, but appreciates regular watering, waiting for the earth to dry between one watering and another.Botanical Information
