Aloe vera - aloe vera (Pot 14-18 cm)

Genus of 300 species of evergreen perennials with rosettes of small to large leaves. Some are shrub-like, a few are arborescent. They can be found at various altitudes in the Cape Verde Islands, in tropical and southern Africa, in Madagascar and in the Arabian Peninsula. Aloe vera is an evergreen succulent plant with a bushy habit formed by several rosettes up to 60-80 cm in diameter and 80-100 cm in height. Simple, lanceolate leaves, light green-greyish in colour with thorns along the edges up to 40-60 cm long. It flowers in spring producing tall and thin stems that carry very decorative inflorescences of yellow or orange colour.

Pedoclimatic requirements

It requires sandy and well-drained soils with a fair amount of organic matter. It likes a dry and warm climate and should be grown in well-ventilated environments in full sun or partial shade. During the dry season it benefits from regular irrigation, although it tolerates drought well. It is a non-rustic plant that fears frost; minimum temperatures should not fall below +6°/+7°C.
