    Altezza della pianta: 60-100cm cm
Genus of 8-12 species of monoecious, single-stemmed palms, native to the arid areas of southern Brazil or Uruguay and Argentina. The Butia capitata is an elegant palm with limited growth. The stem can reach 50 cm in diameter and reaches a height of 6 m. The leaves are arched and pinnate, grey-green in colour, up to 2 m long, with a drooping habit. The plant bears fruit in the summer season, producing edible yellow-orange drupes rich in vitamin C.

    Pedoclimatic needs

Plant that is easy to grow and rarely has growth problems: it requires a certain quantity of water especially during fruiting, but does not require much fertilization. It needs large spaces and lots of brightness. Fairly resistant to the cold, it can withstand periods of intense but not prolonged cold down to -8°/-10°c. It can be grown in continental areas if well exposed because it fears intense spring frosts.
