Calycanthus chinensis - Chinese calycanthus (18 cm pot)

Genus of shrubs or small deciduous trees native to the United States and Asia where they grow in woods or on the edges of waterways. Calycantus chinensis is a spreading shrub, with a compact habit that can reach 2-2.5 m in height and 3 m in width. The leaves are dark green, shiny, oval with wavy margins, 15-20 cm long. In late spring it bears 8-10 cm flowers, white or pink in colour. Flowering is gradual and lasts until early summer.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in fertile, moist, humus-rich soil, in sun or partial shade. Entirely rustic plant, it resists even intense and prolonged frosts. Plant for cool and humid climates that does not tolerate drought; during the dry season water regularly.
