Carica Papaya - Papaya (Square Vase 7X7X8 Cm)

Multiannual herbaceous evergreen plant that lives for about 5 years, dioecious, up to 7 m tall, without branches and with a tuft of palmatosette terminal leaves that give it an appearance similar to palm trees. In female specimens, at the base of the leaves are the (female) flowers from which the fruits will originate, edible yellow-green berries, with yellow-orange pulp, with a pericarp rich in milky juice. The shape and size of the fruits vary greatly depending on the variety. There are some self-fertile cultivars with flowers of both sexes on the same plant.

Pedoclimatic needs

It prefers fertile, well-drained soils, climates with temperatures of 18-30°C. Does not tolerate the cold. Grow outdoors only where temperatures do not drop below 6°C for short periods.
