Ceratonia siliqua - carob (Square vase 9x9x20 cm)

Very long-lived, evergreen tree, which can reach 10-15 m in height. The short and massive vigorous trunk has long, thick branches at the top which form a wide, thick foliage. Persistent compound leaves are bright dark green in color. The flowers, dioecious, are small, not very showy and bloom from the end of summer to mid-autumn. The fruit is a long pod (10-25 cm) flattened and curved with sugary pulp, very nutritious.

Pedoclimatic needs

It grows in warm climates on dry and stony calcareous soils of the Mediterranean basin and resists drought well. Not very rustic species, it does not tolerate intense and prolonged frosts and resists down to -2°/-4°C for short periods. Adult plants are a little more resistant.
