Genus of about 20 species of evergreen shrubs widespread in the stony soils of the Canary Islands, North Africa, Turkey and southern Europe. Cistus salvifolius is a very fragrant perennial shrub with a bush shape that does not grow more than 2.5 meters in height. The leaves are ovate or elliptical, more or less rounded at the base, intense green. Predominantly solitary flowers, partly grouped up to 4 in pedunculated cymes; white with yellow center, very showy. Flowering period April-May.
Pedoclimatic needs
Plant resistant to drought and salt, it requires little care and adapts to any type of soil. Requirement of direct sunlight and a warm or temperate climate (up to 1200 m above sea level in the Maritime Alps). It resists short frosts down to -12°C. Due to these characteristics and the beauty of their flowering, rockroses are ideal for beautifying parks and gardens without water.Botanical Information
