Citrus aurantiifolia var. lime - sweet lime (18 cm vase)

Genus of about 12 species of evergreen trees and shrubs, native to the Far East. Citrus limetta is an evergreen tree similar to lemon, with thorny branches and limited dimensions, reaching 2-4 m in height. The leaves are small and aromatic, oval-elliptical in shape, dark green, with very small petioles, generally equipped with fins. The creamy white flowers appear gradually in the axils of the leaves at various times of the year. The fruits are similar to lemons, but smaller and more rounded, with thin, pleasantly scented peel. The pulp is very fragrant and less acidic than that of C. aurantiifolia. The fruits of this species are preferably harvested when they still have green skin, as at this stage they express their scent to the fullest.

Pedoclimatic needs

Citrus lime, unlike lime, is more resistant to cold and resists temperatures up to +0°/+2°C for short periods. This species prefers loose and fertile soil, possibly with a good organic substance content and avoids excessively calcareous soil. Citrus fruits do not tolerate drought and must be watered and fertilized regularly during the dry season.
