Altezza della pianta: 70-80cm
Genus of about 12 species of evergreen trees and shrubs, native to the Far East. Citrus myrtifolia is a small tree that can reach a height of 3 meters with compact foliage and small lanceolate leathery leaves, which in shape resemble those of the myrtle. The flowers are white and very fragrant. When ripe, the fruit resembles a small mandarin, but the pulp is bitter and intense orange in color. In addition to the production of the famous drink, the fruits are also used for the preparation of candied fruit, liqueurs and jams.
Pedoclimatic needs
Chinotto is suitable for hot climate areas and does not resist cold and frost. Italy is grown in the south, on the islands and where temperatures do not fall below +2°/0°C. Citrus fruits prefer loose and fertile soils, possibly with a good organic substance content and avoid excessively calcareous soils. They do not resist drought and during the dry season they must be watered and fertilized regularly. Being a small species, it is also suitable for cultivation in pots.Botanical Information
