Genus of about 45 species of mainly deciduous shrubs and small trees, coming from northern temperate regions. Cornus florida is a shrub or small deciduous tree that reaches 3 m in height. The leaves are dark green ovals that turn into magnificent pink-reddish shades in autumn. From March to May, at the apex of the branches, it produces numerous small inflorescences made up of minute yellow or green flowers. The characteristic and beauty of this species is that of producing, under each inflorescence, four large heart-shaped bracts, which look like the petals of a large flower. This cultivar has very attractive dark pink bracts.
