This particular variety of pumpkin is characterized by medium-sized fruits with a rounded shape that is decidedly flattened at the poles. The peel is green even when ripe with numerous and pronounced growths and a large, woody peduncle. The pulp has a truly characteristic flavour; it is not very sweet, with a floury consistency that recalls the flavor of chestnuts. This variety is widely cultivated in the Venetian lagoon where it is used for the preparation of numerous typical recipes such as cream soups and gnocchi.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to soft and fresh soils, as long as they are well drained and rich in organic substances. It prefers a sunny exposure. It requires high temperatures to bring the fruits to full ripeness. Watering must be abundant and regular. It fears the cold and cannot tolerate temperatures below 10°C.Sowing
