Genus of about 150 species of perennial or annual herbaceous plants spread across many continents with sometimes odorous leaves. Numerous cultivars and hybrids are grown for the beauty of the flowers and the attractive foliage. Erodium variabile is a perennial herbaceous plant with a compact, ground cover and slow growth, up to 10-15 cm tall. Small, dark green leaves. The flowers are intense pink in color and appear in large numbers from early spring to autumn.
Pedoclimatic needs
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil, possibly with a good content of organic matter and limestone. It likes exposures in full sun or partial shade. Rustic species, it resists cold and frosts as long as they are not too intense and prolonged up to -8°/-10°C. This species tolerates drought fairly well, but in the case of particularly dry seasons it appreciates support irrigation. Being a plant with limited growth, it is suitable for cultivation in pots. Widely used in rock gardens or dry stone walls for its splendid and very long flowering.Botanical Information
