Very diverse genus of about 2000 species of annuals, biennials, evergreen, semi-persistent or herbaceous perennials, suffrutics, deciduous or evergreen shrubs and trees, succulents, widely present in a variety of habitats in temperate, subtropical and tropical regions. Euphorbia decaryi var spirostica is a small succulent with an ovoid tuberous hypogeal stem 4-6 cm long with aerial ramifications 10-20 cm long. The leaves, lanceolate, with a wavy margin, glabrous, 3-5 cm long, are arranged in a rosette at the apex of the branches. The inflorescence is a cyathium with bracts forming a cup-shaped casing around a central female flower, surrounded by 5 male flowers.

    Pedoclimatic needs

Since it is a small species, it is suitable for growing in pots or in small pockets of soil in arid and rocky gardens. Grow in well-drained soil. Sunny exposure. In winter it resists up to +4/+5° C as long as it is kept dry. It can be grown in the ground in Mediterranean gardens where temperatures do not fall below +5°C. In colder climates it can be grown in pots and placed outdoors during spring and summer and sheltered during autumn and winter.
