    Very diverse genus of about 2000 species of annuals, biennials, evergreen, semi-persistent or herbaceous perennials, suffrutics, deciduous or evergreen shrubs and trees, succulents, widely present in a variety of habitats in temperate, subtropical and tropical regions. Euphorbia lathyris is a biennial herbaceous plant up to 100-150 cm tall with a slender and elegant stem, simple or little branched; Sessile leaves in the shape of an elongated triangle, acute, glabrous, dark green in color with a lighter band in the centre. The stem ends with an umbrella-shaped inflorescence with 3-5 branched rays. The fruits are non-dehiscent trilocular capsules in this species.

    Botanical name of “mole swatter; in fact it is widely used in vegetable gardens to ward off these animals. If you create a curtain of these plants around the area to be protected, the moles will not go beyond it because they are chased away by the stinging latex that comes out of the roots if the earth is disturbed. This plant is a fairly rustic species and resists cold and frost down to -9°-12°C.
