Genus of about 7 species of mostly deciduous shrubs, found in the open woodlands of eastern Asia, with only one species native to south-eastern Europe. Forsythia verdissima is a deciduous shrub with an erect habit up to 2-3 m tall, much branched with light green lanceolate leaves, up to 15 cm long. At the end of winter and beginning of spring, before the leaves appear, it produces numerous bright yellow flowers, 3 cm wide, single or occasionally grouped, which completely cover the branches.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Due to the beauty of its very early flowering, it is widely used in parks and gardens for hedges as single specimens or to create spots of color together with other bushes.
