Evergreen succulent up to 3-4 m tall with erect stem. It has single rosettes formed by numerous linear leaves 8-10 cm wide and up to 1 m long, grey-glaucous in colour. The plant closely resembles Yucca gloriosa but has wider, less rigid leaves and without an apical thorn. The plants mature in summer produce erect inflorescences, up to 4-6 m tall, with numerous creamy-white flowers. After flowering the plant dies but often produces numerous bulbils on the inflorescences which, falling to the ground, take root easily.
Pedoclimatic needs
Prefers exposures in full sun. This species is moderately rustic and can be grown outdoors, tolerating temperatures down to -4°/-6°C without causing significant damage. It should be grown in loose substrates and without water stagnation. During the dry season it resists drought well, although it benefits from regular irrigation by waiting for the earth to dry between one irrigation and another.Botanical Information
