Geranium macrorrhizum - rustic sweet geranium (12 cm pot)

Genus of about 150 species of perennial or annual herbaceous plants spread across many continents with sometimes odorous leaves. Numerous cultivars and hybrids are grown for the beauty of the flowers and the attractive foliage. Geranium macrorrhizum is a perennial herbaceous plant with a groundcover habit, up to 25-30 cm tall. Intensely aromatic peltate leaves, rounded with incised margins. The small pink zygomorphic flowers appear in spring.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil, possibly with a good content of organic matter and limestone. It likes partial shade or full sun exposures. Rustic species, it resists cold and even intense and prolonged frosts down to -18°/-20°C. This species cannot tolerate drought and must be watered regularly during the dry season. Being a species with limited development, it is suitable for cultivation in pots. Also widely used in parks and gardens to create borders or as a ground cover for flowerbeds.
