    Genus of about 15 species of deciduous trees, sometimes shrubs, found in forested regions of southeastern Europe, Asia, North America and northern South America. Juglas regia is a vigorous, upright deciduous tree with a solid trunk and robust roots that can reach a height of 30 m. The bark is white or light gray and cracks in mature specimens.     Botanical name of “mallo”. When ripe they release the woody endocarp or the seed, commonly known as a nut, very nutritious with a high lipid content and widely used in cooking.

    Pedoclimatic needs

    It tolerates slightly acidic and calcareous soils with drained soil without water stagnation. It is advisable to water well in late spring to ensure large fruits the following year and to protect the plant from frosts so as not to compromise flowering.
