Genus of 25 species of evergreen, aromatic shrubs and suffrutics found in rocky, exposed, sunny and dry habitats of the Canary Islands, Mediterranean regions, northeastern Africa, southwestern Asia and India. Lavandula dentata is an evergreen, perennial, expansive bushy suffrutix, with linear-oblong aromatic leaves, with crenated, dark green margins. This species is re-flowering and has 2 blooms, the first in late spring and the second in autumn. The light purple flowers are very fragrant, gathered in a showy and compact spike inflorescence.
