Genus of 50 species of deciduous, semi-persistent or evergreen trees and shrubs, present in the woods of Europe, Africa, the Himalayas, Asia and Australia. Ligustrum vulgare is a deciduous or semi-persistent, bushy shrub, with narrowly oval to lanceolate, dark green leaves. At the beginning of summer the white flowers appear, collected in panicles, followed by the shiny black globular fruits. It can reach 3 m in height.
Pedoclimatic needs
Grow in any fresh, deep soil, as long as it is free from stagnation, in full sun or partial shade. Ligustrum vulgare is completely rustic and resists even intense and prolonged frosts down to -14°/-16°C. It is suitable for forming both free and topiary hedges.Botanical Information
