Magnolia kobus - Japanese magnolia (Pot 18 cm)

Genus of about 125 species of deciduous or evergreen trees and shrubs found in the woods and scrublands of the Himalayas, Asia, North and South America. Magnolia kobus is a small, broadly conical deciduous tree, with narrowly obovate, often ridged, aromatic, medium green leaves. At the beginning of spring, before the leaves appear, it produces a profusion of white, calyx or saucer-shaped flowers, sometimes tinged with pink at the base. It can reach 12 m in height.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in moist, well-drained, humiferous, acidic to neutral soil in full sun to partial shade. Rustic species, it resists cold and even intense and prolonged frosts down to -20°/-22°C. Late frosts can ruin early flowering.
