Osmanthus (syn. Olea) fragrans - odorous osmanthus (Square vase 9x9x20 cm)

Genus of about 30 species of evergreen trees and shrubs widespread in the East and America. Osmanthus fragrans is a shrub or small evergreen tree up to 4-5 m tall, bushy, compact and slow growing. Bark grey, smooth, not cracking. Lanceolate, leathery, shiny, dark green leaves. In spring it produces numerous small creamy white flowers, not very showy but very fragrant, followed by small fruits, black when ripe.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in non-calcareous, deep, fertile and drained soil, preferably in partial shade, but it is also suitable for growing in the sun. Fairly rustic species, it resists even quite prolonged frosts down to -10°-12°C. Being a slow and limited growing shrub, it is particularly suitable for small gardens, balconies and terraces. Suitable for the creation of both free and topiary hedges or to be planted in a group with other bushes or even as an isolated plant.
