Parrotia persica cv. "Vanessa" CARICO - pagoda tree (Square vase 7-9cm)

Shrub or a small deciduous tree up to 7-9 m tall; this cv. “vanessa” has a pyramidal shape, with foliage that develops in height and not much in width. The trunk and branches are initially smooth, but crack in mature specimens. The entire leaves with serrated margins are shiny and bright green. The peculiarity and attraction of this species is its autumn foliage with orange-red tones. At the beginning of spring it produces a beautiful flowering with numerous small reddish flowers.

Pedoclimatic needs

It should be planted in full sun but also tolerates partial shade. It adapts to all soils, but prefers fresh and slightly acidic ones which enhance its autumn colours. It also adapts to partially calcareous substrates, but in autumn its foliage does not take on its typical colour. Rustic species, it resists cold and even intense and prolonged frosts down to -22°/-24°c. Once established, it also resists heat and drought as long as it is not too prolonged.
