Genus of over 500 species of evergreen climbers, often epiphytes, found in the rainforests of many tropical countries. Philodendron scandens is an epiphytic climber with thin, sparsely branched stems. The plants have small, heart-shaped, glossy, dark green leaves. The leaves of adult plants can sometimes reach 15-20 cm in length, but generally do not exceed 10 cm in cultivation. In nature, plants attached to tree trunks can exceed twenty meters in height.
Pedoclimatic requirements
Grow in moist, moist but well-drained soil, in bright positions but not in direct sunlight. This species is generous, magnificent and easy to grow indoors. It can be grown outdoors only where temperatures do not fall below 6°/8°C for short periods. It can be grown in an erect form on spongy supports to which it attaches itself with its aerial roots, or suspended in a drooping form.
