Genus of about 30 species of erect trees and shrubs, mostly deciduous, present in woods, rocky places and on hilly slopes in Europe, Asia from west to east and northern Africa. Pyrus calleryana cv "Chanticleer" is a small deciduous tree with pyramidal crown up to 6-8 m tall. Ovate to elliptical, shiny, dark green leaves that have beautiful yellow-orange shades in autumn. At the beginning of spring, before the leaves appear, it produces numerous white flowers, followed by small globose green to yellow fruits.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in any fertile, well-drained soil, preferring medium-textured, sub-acid soil. It loves full sun exposure. Due to its slender shape and limited development it is widely used for tree-lined avenues and small gardens
