Slightly lignified perennial plant up to 4-5 meters tall, with a bushy habit. The leaves, up to 20 cm large, have an entire margin and are tomentose and grey-green in colour. The flowers are small in size and have a purplish color gathered in apical umbel-shaped inflorescences. The fruit is a spherical berry which takes on a yellow color when ripe. It is an excellent rootstock for aubergines or other nightshades, whose grafted plants are more vigorous and resistant to diseases.
