It has light green heart-shaped leaves up to 8 cm long. In spring, numerous very fragrant lilac-colored flowers bloom, gathered in panicle inflorescences up to 10 cm long.

Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to all types of soil as long as it is fresh and well-drained. It prefers sunny or partial shade exposures. They can be used to create informal hedges or as single plants. They do not require drastic pruning which compromises their flowering. The only practices to be carried out consist in the removal of withered inflorescences and rejuvenation pruning on old plants.
