Biennial herbaceous plant up to 60-80 cm tall characterized by a simple or slightly branched erect stem. The basal leaves are alternate, entire, with a wavy margin and are 10-15 cm long. The flowers are gathered in violet flower heads which are followed by the characteristic giant dandelions. The elongated and fleshy roots are edible, very tender and tasty.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to all types of soil, preferring well-drained, loose ones. Prefers exposure in full sun. Moderately rustic plant, it resists short frosts and tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -5°/-8°c.
