Washingtonia filifera - California Palm (Forest Alveolus)

Palm characterized by an erect and stocky trunk that can reach 15-18 meters in height. The leaves are fan-shaped, divided into a large number of segments whose margins are covered with long whitish filaments. The white flowers are gathered in large pendulous inflorescences that appear in the axils of the leaves. The small, black and ovoid fruits are collected in bunches which are also pendulous.

Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to all types of soil as long as it is very well drained. Prefers exposure in full sun. During the summer, in case of prolonged drought, it benefits from regular watering. Partially rustic plant, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -6°C/-8°C for not too long periods.
