Large palm with solitary trunk, up to 30 m tall. The trunk of Washingtonia robusta is more slender and thinner than the similar species W. filifera. Fan-shaped leaves 80-120 cm long, dark green in color gathered in a rosette at the apical part of the stem. Small creamy white flowers gathered in large decorative inflorescences. Small fruits, black when ripe.
Pedoclimatic needs
It prefers fertile, well-drained soil. It adapts to being grown both in the sun and in partial shade. During the dry season it benefits from regular watering. Partially rustic, it resists for short periods down to -5°/-7°C.
