Limited-growing evergreen succulent with a generally prostrate and bushy habit, up to 1.5-2 m tall. The leaves, arranged in a rosette around the stem, are up to 40-50 cm long, not very rigid, with a finely toothed margin and a beautiful burgundy colour. The flowers of this species native to Mexico are unknown and it is propagated agamically through cuttings and basal suckers. Botanists hypothesize that it is a sterile natural hybrid between Yucca aloifolia and Yucca filamentosa.
Pedoclimatic needs
If grown in open ground it prefers full sun exposures. This species is fairly rustic and can also be grown in northern Italy, tolerating temperatures down to -10/-13°C without causing damage. Grow in loose soil and without water stagnation. Being a species of limited growth, it is among the few species of Yucca that adapt very well to cultivation in pots.
