Yucca filifera - Yucca Filifera (Pot 24 cm)

Very long-lived arboreal succulent up to 10-12 m tall, with robust and erect stem. Adult specimens have branched foliage, but generally in cultivation the plants have a single stem with a rosette of apical leaves. This species is one of the largest and fastest growing yuccas there is, the trunk can reach 9 m in height and has a characteristic and conspicuous "elephant's foot" basal swelling. The leaves are rigid and fibrous, lanceolate, with gray filaments on the margins and a terminal thorn. The dried leaves remain attached to the trunk for a long time. The inflorescence is a pendulous raceme up to 1.5 m long with creamy white flowers pointing downwards.

Pedoclimatic needs

Grow in sunny positions. It should be grown in loose substrates and without water stagnation. This species is fairly rustic and resists temperatures down to -10/-12°C without suffering damage. Very resistant to heat and drought, it is ideal for parks and gardens without water.
