Genus of about 150 species of deciduous or evergreen trees and shrubs of Europe, Africa and northern Asia and North and Central America. Acer negundo is a medium-sized, fast-growing deciduous tree native to North America, up to 12-15 meters tall, characterized by an erect, grayish trunk and rounded crown. The leaves are compound, odd-pinnate and light green. The flowers are inconspicuous and yellowish-green. The fruits are disamara that form long bunches.
Pedoclimatic requirements
Maples are suitable for any type of garden depending on the species and size. Acer negundo adapts to all types of soil, preferring soft, drained soils with a moderate content of organic matter. It prefers exposure to full sun or partial shade. A very rustic plant, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -20°/-25°c, but also resists particularly hot and torrid seasons.
