Amorpha fruticosa - false indigo (Forest alveolus)
Genus of 15 species of deciduous shrubs of North America, where they grow in arid, often sandy areas, such as prairies, woodlands, hills, and often in woods or river edges. Amorpha fruticosa is a medium-sized deciduous shrub, reaching a height of between 1 and 5 m. The crown is spreading and the stem is sinuous with brown-greyish bark. The leaves reach 2-3 cm, are paripinnate and green in colour. The flowers are abundant, violet in colour, rich in pollen, placed on short pedicels and the fruits are legumes of about 8 mm.
Pedoclimatic requirements
It adapts to all types of soil, as long as they are well drained. It prefers full sun exposure. Very rustic plant, tolerates the cold well.
