Genus of 15 species of deciduous shrubs from North America, where they grow in arid, often sandy areas, such as prairies, woodlands, hills, and often in woods or river edges. Amorpha fruticosa is a medium-sized deciduous shrub, reaching a height of between 1 and 5 m. The foliage is expanded and the stem is sinuous with greyish-brown bark. The leaves reach 2-3 cm, are paripinnate and green in color. The flowers are abundant, violet in colour, rich in pollen, placed on short pedicels and the fruits are legumes of about 8 mm.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to all types of soil, as long as it is well drained. It prefers exposure in full sun. Very rustic plant, it tolerates the cold well.Botanical Information
