Genus of plants of the Fabaceae family that includes about 300 species of small deciduous trees and shrubs spread throughout tropical areas. Bauhinia yunnanensis is a small deciduous shrub, sometimes climbing, that can reach a height of 2-4 meters. The crown has a disordered shape with sarmentose branches. The bilobed leaves resemble the imprint of a bovine's hoof. In spring the plant produces apical inflorescences with pink flowers, very similar in shape to those of orchids.
