Genus of 25 species of evergreen trees or shrubs of Australia, where they grow mostly on moist soils in open, wooded areas. Callistemon citrinus is a shrub or small evergreen tree up to 6-8 m tall and compact in shape. The leaves are leathery, lanceolate, light green, up to 10 cm long. From late spring to autumn it bears dense spikes up to 15 cm long, of intense red flowers.
Pedoclimatic needs
Grow in well-drained, neutral to acidic, moderately fertile soil in full sun. Adult plants tolerate drought well even if they appreciate regular watering. Partially rustic plant withstands short frosts up to -4°/-6°c.
